Living in the COVID World ... and Beyond #36: On a Podcast with My Rabbi
This blog is different than all of the others. It is different because after a short introduction there will be a link to a podcast in which I am in a 50-minute discussion with the rabbi of my local synagogue. I hope you will listen to it.
Background:
My rabbi started a podcast a few months ago. It is called Heretics Standing at Sinai (our synagogue is Temple Sinai). He has been using a text, Open Secrets by Rami Shapiro, and reads a chapter on each podcast. The book is written by a modern Jewish thinker but is organized as a series of fictitious letters written by a turn of the 19th century Russian rabbi to a congregant who has migrated to the United States. After my rabbi started the podcast, he invited congregants to join him in a discussion of the text.
Now, I am no Jewish theologian nor philosopher. But I enjoyed listening to the podcast. And so, I volunteered to participate. If you listen, you’ll hear more about how I think about my Jewish upbringing as well as other thoughts that this particular chapter generated for my rabbi and for me.

My session is E16 – To Listen and to Love.
Enjoy!
